Today one of my neighbor is doing satyanarayana swamy vratham and she invited us. So I want to offer something to pooja and suddenly this prasadam came into my mind. I want to make it healthy and annavaram prasadam which is made of cracked wheat aka ‘Godhuma ravva’ is the healthiest any one can make in sweets. Annavaram prasadam tastes so unique and delicious, it is not comparable to any other prasadamas, it has it’s own unique identity, it is made of cracked wheat, milk and ghee.
Here is my version of the recipe-
1 cup of cracked wheat/ Godhuma Ravva
4 cups of milk
1 cup of jaggery
1 tsp elachi/ cardamom powder
Cashew nuts and Raisins
In a wide pan, roast cracked wheat on a medium flame until it gets nice color.
In another sauce pan, bring milk to a boil. Add cracked wheat, stir it and let it cook well.
In another sauce pan, add jaggery and ¼ cup of water and let all jaggery melt.
When cracked wheat gets all mushy, add jaggery, elachi and mix all of them. Add ghee and turn the flame off.
In a small pan, heat ghee and fry cashew nuts and to golden color. Remove cashew nuts and to the same pan add little more ghee and add raisins, let them all puff up and switch off the flame. Add fried cashews and raisin to prasadam.
You can call this as Paravannam, Satyanarayana swamy naivedyam, prasadam. I am sure there are more variations of this prasadam and i would love to know more. Please do post if you know of any other varieties.
