Cabbage Peas fry/ Cabbage Peas quick stir fry

I want my son (Pranay) to eat cabbage as it is so good for health. When ever I give him this cabbage curry he always think it is onion curry (Pranay loves onions) and he won’t complain at all.
I use to hate cabbage when I was little, but one time I went to Madras and I ate this cabbage fry in a restaurant, it is so good I tried so many ways to reproduce it and I finally got it. I always think how they could possibly have the cabbage to stay white even after cooking..
Here is the quick, delicious and healthy dish from my kitchen.
Ingredients:
- Diced Cabbage
- Hand full of Frozen Peas
- Green chilies – 2
- 1 Tsp each of Mustard seeds, Cumin/Jeera, Urad dal
- Curry leaves – 1 twig
- Salt as required.
Directions
- In a microwave bowl steam cabbage for 3 mins or until it is half cooked. I like a little crunch, if you like it well done, you can cook it for 5 mins in micro wave by turning cabbage in the middle.
- Take a pan, heat a spoon of oil and add the mustard seeds, when they pop add cumin and urad dal, when they turn golden, add curry leaves and slit green chilies.
- Add the steamed cabbage and season it with salt. Stir fry it for 3 min, add peas add let it sauté till both the cabbage and peas are well cooked.
- Check the taste, turn off the flame.
- Serve this with rice or chapatti or pulka. Very very healthy dish
Chinese people make sure that they have cabbage in their menu every day as it is very nutritious.
